It’s my Da’s first heavenly birthday today. 
Things I’ve learned since his passing. And what has been reinforced.
That love is infinite, beyond time and space.
To stand with the truth. Even if you’re up against the whole world. The truth will always out.
To protect those you love, passionately and with conviction.
To keep getting up, no matter how many times you get kicked in the guts.
To maintain your dignity and know who you are. Be loyal to yourself. Even when surrounded by those who choose to believe something else. To thine own self be true. Always.
To work diligently and quietly. Enough said.
Be kind to those who cannot do anything for you. It’s a mark of your character.
To love animals.
To remember that this is the first day of the rest of your life. That no matter how bleak the night, to always look for the dawn.
Forever and beyond Da. Forever and beyond. I miss you so but you already know that. Say hi to grandpa for me and happy 53rd wedding anniversary. Xxxx
